Local artist Edwina Edwards found solace by walking in the bush as the world went into lockdown in 2020. Getting out into nature helped to ground and remind her, that there was still beauty and wonder in the world. Landscapes and the natural environment have always influenced Edwina’s work, however during this lockdown period, she became hyper aware of the natural environment and the crucial part that it plays in our wellbeing.
This recent series of paintings, entitled ‘Bush Solace’ were inspired by Edwina’s recent daily walks in the bush. Edwina Edwards’ beautiful and intuitive use of colour depicts the distinctive qualities of autumn and winter light in the region. The series communicates Edwina’s connection to the local landscape and the sense of freedom that she finds there.
